Teaching and Learning at Hasmonean
At Hasmonean we value every child and we aim to educate all pupils to achieve the very best they can from whatever their starting point. We aim to give each child a positive experience of learning at Hasmonean in both Chol and Kodesh and for them to feel safe , looked after and valued. We aim to inspire and enthuse, to explore their talents and to give them the very best learning experience we can.
Our Chol Curriculum has been worked on extensively since January 2022 and the Curriculum is broad and balanced exploring themes that are special to Hasmonean such as transportation and migration. We follow the expectations of the National Curriculum and teach both content and key skills from Nursery all the way up to Year 6 so pupils can learn year on year and build connections between their learning experiences.
Our Teachers are enthusiastic and experienced and teach our pupils by a variety of methods with the aim to get the best out of everyone. An experienced support staff complement the teachers by providing small group work and one to one teaching so all our pupils can reach their full potential. We aim to provide meaningful continuing professional development and training for all our staff to make sure they continue to support the pupils learning.
We have regular assessment weeks designed to help recognise strengths and weaknesses and also to see where the gaps in learning and understanding are following the pandemic. We have Interventions running before and after school and track the pupils progress. Interventions are not just for the pupils who find their academic learning challenging , we also have interventions for pupils who could achieve greater depth and for those at greater depth how they can be extended further. Our Pupil Progress Meetings makes sure every pupil in the class is discussed by the Class Teacher as well as the Headteacher , Sendco and Deputy Headteacher.
