Welcome to Hasmonean! I am very proud to be the new Headteacher at Hasmonean primary School. It is a school that is steeped in History and was born from the legacy of Rabbi Dr Solomon Schonfeld, as part of the Jewish Secondary School Movement. The Movement was set up on the third night of Chanukah 1944 – hence the name HASMONEAN and the origin of the school badge depicting the menorah. My aims are simple, I wish to ensure that Hasmonean continues to provide a high standard of education in both Chol and Kodesh ensuring that every child makes progressive from whatever their starting point, that they enjoy being part of Hasmonean and feel safe and nurtured by our many wonderful and caring teachers. We encourage our children to be confident and caring individuals developing their resilience after what has been a challenging few years for us all.
We provide a high standard of education in both our Chol and Kodesh departments and aim to bring a joy of learning and creativity to both departments as well as providing specialist teachers in Music, Art and Design and Technology and Physical Education. Our Curriculum is broad and exciting and our pupil voice where we hear from the pupils as to what they have learnt encourages us to further develop our subjects from Nursery to Year 6. Our guiding principle is “Torah Im Derech Eretz” and our staff are truly committed to bringing out the best in every child in their Torah and secular education as well as in their personal and social development.
Your children are unique. We feel privileged to be able to assist their development during their formative years and can assure you that we will do whatever we can to make their time here happy and successful.
At Hasmonean we have a proud past and an even brighter future and I welcome you to come and visit our school.
